THE LAST SUPPER

I didn't have any time to update the Blog yesterday as we all had a really busy day so i will give you a brief idea of what we got up to but i have to be quick as we are waiting to board our flight. As Ali had injured wrist yesterday and we didn't know if he would want to Ski anymore i took the oppertunity to ask some other people if i could comme out with them for a day. I am really glad i did because i had to push myself harder and i could really see how good i was at Skiing. I did a red route which was really fast and i managed to keep up with everyone and even beat some of them to the bottom! I didn't fall over which gave me a lot of confidence but i did have a few moments where i was going too fast and really had to work to keep control. My legs were really burning by the time we got to the end of our last run but i think i have come out off this week fitter! But i am going to be striaght to Gym next Satturday to get rid of all the food and drink that i have had over Christmas. We all ended up at an Apres Ski Bar called the Mooservert which was completely mental but great! There was so many people inside that you couldn't move so we went outside to find our group and we sat around a big table listening to crazy German Mixes of English songs! It was so much fun there! Owen got out a Rubgy ball and everyone started throwing it to each other. As you can imagine it got very out of control and the music sent people wild and bottles where smashed, drinks were knocked over and then the ball was held at ransom by a member of Staff. He made Ken pay 10 Euros to get it back! Only for someone to throw it straight through a window five minutes later! I put some empty shot glasses and a Beer glss in my hood and then we Skii'd down for the last time.
Our last Supper was as funny as it had been all week, mostly because Owen was drunk again.
It has been a brilliant week and our Chalet Buddies are reeally nice and i'm am going to stay in touch with everyone! Thanks Alec!!
Bye everyone, see you later today or Monday.

NICE TRIP

Our group decided to go to Lech today so we all headed over there this morning. However we all went at different times and some of us went by Bus and the more hardcore people Skied there. We did find a few people we knew though but as we were still getting to grips with Skiing we stayed on our own and went down the slopes together. They have really wide runs in Lech and you can go really fast but we didn't get to do that because me and Ali stayed with Dad to help him out and make sure he was OK. Ali seemed to be less confident today and he just stayed slow but i was desperate to race someone down the mountain just to see how fast i could go. Dad was better today but still learning. He said his legs hurt today but it might be to do with his tense posture. On our second run down we were taking it slowly but Ali got his Ski's twisted, fell forward and landed on his wrist. I thought it was bad becasue he didn't get up and a few people came over to help him and see if he was alright so i walked up the hill to help him up. We got to the side of the slope so we weren't in the way and we helped Ali get his Ski's back on but he lost his balance and fell on the same wrist! So we are assuming that it is a sprain as he can't move it very easily or put any pressure it. Our Snowboarding friends say that a wrist support is essential next time we come as it is easy to sprain a wrist when you fall over. Anyway that put an end to our Skiing for the day so we walked to the Bus stop and got the Bus back to St. Anton. I kept falling asleep and my head was just bouncing up and down when i kept waking myself up and the two people next to me were laughing because i must have looked like a nodding Dog!
I have to tell you about last night when we went Sledding! It was mental! Very expensive also which we were not expecting so only me, Ali, Kirsty, Vicky, Owen and Bill went and we were all as scared as each other! We had to get the cable car up the mountain to where we had been having our Skiing lessons which is quite high up. The Sledges we had were proper old fashioned wooden ones with absolutely no way of steering them or stopping them so again i stayed with Ali and was constantly worried that he was going to fly straight over the edge. Within two minutes we had already crashed but it was Owen and Bill who flew straight into me and Ali who were standing up at the time. Luckily we didn't get hurt but it showed how dangerous what we were about to do was. Ali found it hard to pick up speed and turn so we came down slowly and tried to get out of the way of other people. There were ice barriers around the track but you could easily fly over the top if you had enough speed. It was also very icy so we spun a few times and we all managed to crash backwards into a wall but eventually me and Ali got to the bottom where we met the rest of the group who were beginning to get worried as we were about 10 minutes longer than the others. I would have loved to have gone down as fast as i could and raced the others but i couldn't leave Ali. It was really fun though and completely unsafe but worth the money. Once was more than enough though.
Only two more days! We have a lot to pack into tomorrow but it's going to be a really fun day!
Salut.

LAZY DAY!

Hello, today was a rather lazy day for all of us (some more than others) as we all went out drinking last night, again (some more than others) so the dining room was empty until 10. I enjoyed last night though, it was great being out with everyone from our Chalet and we had a lot of fun drinking! (so did Ali) Our friend Owen had one too many and had to be taken back by me and Ken before he got in a fight over the Pool table. It was incredibly expensive! I paid 7 Euros for a single Whisky and Coke! But i managed alright because a few people were getting rounds and i got a few drinks out of that but of course i told them that i was OK and i didn't want another drink but they insisted.
Anyway, today we didn't have any Ski School so we just got up late and went out about 11:30 for a few practice runs where we had been having lessons the day before. Me and Ali stayed with Dad for a bit to try and help him out but in the end we had to just leave him to practice on his own and he has got a lot better at turning but he still needs to relax a bit more. Ali would like me to make it known that he nearly broke his legs when me and him Skied down from Gampen. He was OK though but he did have a painful fall.
Anyway we are all off to do extreme Sledding now so i hope i am able to type another Blog tomorrow but we will see how it goes.

DAY TWO OF SKI SCHOOL

Once again my alarm didn't go off this morning so it was a quick wash and a quick breakfast before our Ski School began. Me and Ali had to move into a higher group which we were not really looking forward to because everyone was German and we didn't know anyone. Our instructor couldn't speak a lot of English and he didn't think it was necessary to tell us how to use the chair lifts so he just pushed us through the barrier. He didn't Really pay attention to what we were doing either and he explained everything in German so it was very difficult to know what he wanted us to do. Because we had split up from Dad we didn't have any money with us so when we stopped at a Cafe for lunch i told our instructor that i needed to go down to the bottom of the mountain to find dad and get some cash but he said i wasn't allowed. Then i had to tell him again and he said there is not enough time to go. He didn't really seem to care that me and Ali would have to go for another 2 hours without food so i told him that we were leaving anyway so me and Ali went and found Dad and our old group back at the bottom and we decided to stay with them.
Then in the afternoon we went up the mountain again but it was a lot more fun this time because we knew everyone and we got to go quite high up. It was really fun and we learnt how to turn and carve in the snow while we were going fast. I fell over a couple of time but they were only little skids but i did hurt my leg because one time when i fell my ski dug into the snow and i hit the back of my leg. Our Ski instructor still wants a few of us to move up a group but i am not sure wether i want to. I am sure it will be a lot more fun though if a few of us from our group move up. Dad is still getting to grips with the snow plough but he is doing OK. He gets very tired when we finish though but he wouldn't if he didn't keep falling over!
Hopefully tomorrow will be more fun in the morning and we will get in a good group but i am really looking forward to just doing our own thing and exploring the other parts of the resort and of course doing a lot more skiing.

SKISCHULE

A few of us from our Chalet thought it would be best to book up some Ski School for three days and it turned out to be a rather good decision for some people who are now experts at getting up and Skiing backwards. It is so different on Snow to dry slopes because it is so much more slippery but it is a lot easier to move. I think it was about -13 today and tomorrow i am going to wear two pairs of gloves because my fingertips got really cold but other than that it was only really my face that got chilly. This afternoon our Ski instructor took us a bit further up the slopes which was really fun because you can go quite fast. We practiced turning and stopping most of the afternoon and we gradually got further up the hill. Ali and me even went to the top of one of the slopes but we got a bit scared coming down because we were going really fast and you can just seeing your Ski's bouncing up and down, i was hoping that both my feet would be pointing in the right direction when we got to the bottom.
We finished about three o'clock and decided that we would go back to the Chalet for afternoon Tea and cake. It was great getting out of our Ski wear and by the time we got back we were pretty worn out!
We are now just relaxing in the lounge and we might go to town soon to explore.
Hope everyone is OK. I will try and get some pictures on here soon but i haven't taken any yet because it has started to get dark now.

WE'VE ARRIVED!

We left Eastbourne for Austria at 7:30 this morning and we arrived in St. Anton around 4:30. The airport was very quiet so we were straight through check-in and security without any hassle which left us a couple of hours to have a nice English breakfast in a Gatwick Weatherspoons! I needed some extra spending money but found it hard to part with £23.26 in exchange for only 20 Euros but i suppose it's worth it just in case i need to buy a new leg or something!
The Plane journey was pretty good but it was rubbish wether for looking out of the window although seeing the mountains when we started to approach Innsbruck was amzing to say the least. The outside air temp in the sky was -74F so Ali got to seeing some frost forming on his window which momentarily distracted him from singing along to his High School Musical soundtrack.
When we got to Innsbruck airport we then had to find our taxi driver to St. Anton. Dad was worried that he hadn't turned up but after a few minutes he held up his sign with Mr Haydon on. He did not speak much English but he could say 'so' and 'St. Anton' but that didn't really matter as we all fell asleep anyway.
So.... we arrived and found our Chalet very quickly and it's like a mini Hotel inside and is lovely and warm. Me and Ali are sharing a room which is cool and Dad has a room just next door. About 1o minutes after we arrived Alec's friends arrived and the are very nice so i am sure they will look after us. We have just come back from getting ourselves equiped for the week with Boot's and Ski's and now we are waiting for our meeting at 7:30 in the lounge where there will be canopes and drink and then our evening meal which we our all looking forward to very much.
Tomorrow morning i will take some pictures so you can all see the beautiful scenery that we are surrounded by and i will also tell you how our first proper Ski lesson goes!
